Los Jameos, Site of scientific interest

It has a surface of 30 hectares and forms part of the natural space of Volcan de La Corona and malpais, declared Natural space of the Canaries on June 19 th 1987, as well as ecologic area. It is situated in the municipality of Haria. This strange lava show will captive your attention by its exceptional natural beauty, a hole of volcanic tube flooded by salted water forming an interior lake in which exceptionally and uniquely lives a species of little white crab (spelenoectes ondinae). This area was arranged for tourism by the Lanzarotean artist César Manrique, architect, painter and sculptor.
